Earlier today I went to the library - they're closing for the month of May to do some renovation and I desperately needed to get some audiobooks and some new music before that. I'm very pleased with my "findings" (I just love to go do the library and browse, to me it's like being handed the key to the candy store... Music & books - even a few movies, what could be better?). Of audiobooks I got the Artemis Fowl series. I've admired them in the book stores time and time again but haven't bought any of them yet (I own about 40 books already, I haven't read), so now I get the chance to "read" the Artemis Fowl books afterall. Can't wait!
I also brought home a bunch of CDs. All very good for a change. Usually when I go to the library I have a few things on my list that I need to get, but I also like to let myself be seduced by whatever is on the shelves and usually end up bringing home a handful of totally random CDs picked because the coverart is pretty or ugly or the band has a funny name. Not always a success, there's really some odd music out there! But I actually discovered Heather Nova by following that pattern - I thought her Siren cover was really pretty, and the word Siren appealed to me very much. I think it's a good way of discovering new music - and it's absolutely free! This time I had a few CDs I wanted to pick up - lots were in "quarentine" period (stupid rule! If people want to make pirate copies I don't think this'll stop them!) but I got some: Feist, The Flaming Lips, Saint Etienne. I also found Green Day's new "American Idiot", haven't listened to it yet but I doubt it'll leave the stereo once I do. Random picks included Kelis (picked because I like "Trick Me"), Scissor Sisters (picked because I like "Take Your Mama"), Joan Osborne (picked because I like one of her other albums)& Maroon5 (just out of curiosity, I used to like their music but they've been played far too much on the radio).
I also got this CD with some Danish music and I've discovered that besides checking out moi Caprice (which I was going to anyway) I also need to pick up NUs CD when the library opens again, knew I loved their "Any Other Girl" but I had kinda forgotten until I heard it again.
All in all a very profitable (in a non-financial way) visit to the library. I'm afraid I'll get abstinenses though, when I can't go there for an entire month but we'll see about that.
Just realising something... My "mark names with bold"-tradition lasted exactly one post! Silly me!
