Books and movies

Just moments prior to writing this I was reading a book by Susan Kay called "Phantom". It is based on the characters from the much loved story "Phantom of the Opera". It is an amazing book!!! I am so moved by it - I was actually about to cry while reading, something I rarely do. I guess I have always felt strongly for the misfits and the outcasts, perhaps because I feel like one most of the time, and I just wanted to reach out to the phantom because none of it can really be blamed on him. It's like Raistlin, I always felt that way about that character too. It's weird, really, that I identify with them because I have no reason to. No reason to feel cast out because even though I'm not part of the in circle, I easily could be if I wanted to. I've had the offer many times. Part of me just doesn't want to join. I seem to rather want to stay in the outskirts of the action. I guess, that's just who I am: One small package of contradictions. But again, that's how I like it :) Actually I don't, but I assume you'd already guessed that ;)
Yesterday I watched the movie Minority report. I loved it! I had planned on being dissapointed because I love the mind of the short story writer Philip K. Dick and somehow it could not get any better. But it did. PKD is the writer of the novels / short stories behind movies like Bladerunner (Do androids dream of electronic sheep?), Total recall (We can remember it for you wholesale), Paycheck and Screamers (Second Variety). The last being my all time sci-fi favourite.

I found Minority Report to be really original (as all PKDs work) but also a very nice watch. It was exciting and extremely beautiful. I especially loved the lighting and the weird camera angles, filming from through the ceiling (like in Kill Bill). The extra material was okay but I've seen better, no really points for that then. LOTR extended edition still hold the crown for the best extra material
ever! But I know it's not fair to compare anything to that. It is in a league of it's own - being two whole discs and all. Well, I guess I have nothing more to say and everything else I could tell you would probably just be me babbling on and on. Take Care and keep smiling, my friend!
