The Alanis Morissette Eight Easy Steps thing was a nice idea but slowly - no, quickly actually - began to feel like an assignment... Which means it is hereby forgotten. The title today is a line from the song "Cleveland" by Jewel, which is my new favourite song, don't know why but it just makes me really happy.
I spoke with my friend, the newly hatched mother, today when I was shopping at the mall. She phoned my to ask if my cell had MMS so she could send me a picture of the little wonder. He's a very cute little fella with very round cheeks. Healthy. She's feeling much better already - tired because of lack of sleep but that's to be expected with a newborn baby's crying.
The shopping trip was great - well, I couldn't find any clothes I wanted to own (I do have my eye on a top and a skirt in a shop here in town though). I did find two set of underwear, which are absolutely gorgeous in my opinion. They were on sale so I got them cheap. This actually reminds me of a converstation I had with a friend last month about underwear. We were flipping through a lingerie catalogue and I made a comment about how cute some of it was and how I would have bought it had it been less expensive. She said that she didn't bother because no one but herself would see it anywayz. It kinda made me wonder because no one but myself sees mine either but I just like to know I'm wearing it for some reason. I think my friend thought I'd gone mental when I told her that. And I have to admit that it's kinda daft really.
I also "happened" to buy 6 DVDs. Me buying DVDs is always sort of an accident. I simply can't pass a shelf with DVDs for 50 kr - well, I even got "Evolution" for 25 kr. I couldn't pass on that offer. I'm weak a soul for that. There also were a "Bourne Identity" special edition but I resisted because 50 kr is my upper price limit. Eventually all DVDs will be sold for 50 kr, you just have to be patient.
What I did buy was "12 Monkeys" special limeted edition... I hated the movie when I first saw it on video back in the day but then I got some videos from friends of my parents who had switched to DVD, 12 Monkeys among others, and I really loved it then! I'm slowly getting rid of my VHS tapes and replacing them with DVDs. I also bought "Down with love". I haven't seen it before but I usually like Ewan McGregor so I hope it's good.
Speaking of DVDs... Last week I bought "Ned Kelly" and yesterday I watched it. Wow, I absolutely loved it! It made me want to study up on the whole Kelly phenomenon and if I should ever go to Australia I'll be sure to go see the armor and the sash. Last year I never got around to do my Holy Grail / Lady of the Lake project so now I seem to have two projects. Well, three projects I have actually. I also wanted to do some research on the Dutch painter Vermeer. I've just read Tracy Chevalier's book "Girl with a pearl earring" and it had me completely captivated. I'm also planning on getting the DVD, though I don't think the book translates well to film. But if it's boring there's always Colin Firth playing Vermeer to look at.
By the way I think I need to make a comment about Orlando Bloom's part in "Ned Kelly". At an earlier point in this blog he was quite an issue with me because I though he sucked in "Troy" and I was really dissappointed because I had loved his performance in "LOTR". "Pirates of the Caribbean" won me over a bit but he never managed to convince me completely. I just don't think he's that fabulous, a handsome devil sure, but his acting skills aren't that great in my opinion. But he must have something I can't seem to see because how else can he be offered such great parts? Well, he did a nice job on "Ned Kelly" I have to admit, but the real hard work was done by Heath Ledger and the guy playing the young Dan Kelly (I didn't catch his name).
Oh well, who cares anyway? The point is I love the movie. I even feel like watching it again very soon - right now though, I'm watching "Regarding Henry" on TV, which I actually ought to be doing whole-heartedly instead of typing away on this nonesense.
Have a nice day everyone!
